The above thongs are suitable for use with large holed beads, to make necklaces and chokers and for hanging pendants.

The chokers can have one special bead only if required, but my customers usually find three or five beads for a choker is satisfactory. Don't forget, it will look best made with an odd number; a large centre bead with smaller ones either side.

Go to Necklace Findings for a suitable clasp. See the following table to find threads suitable for use with beads such as Rocailles, Bugles, Pearls, Seed Beads, Sequins, and all other small holed beads. Use these for Bead Loom Weaving, Necklaces, Amulet Purses, and Embroidery.

The following threads are strong, and fine and are best used double, and can be used muti-stranded to fit the hole comfortably.

For added strength and ease of use, wax the thread with Bees Wax before use. For prices of Wax, and to find a good selection of Needles to use with the fine threads go to Miscellaneous

"Beadalon" is plastic covered fine 7 strand twisted wire similar to "Softfex" which we used to stock. It is also similar to the Tiger Tail which some of you may have used in the past, but far superior. It is less inclined to kink and has a softer feel and hang. Use for threading heavy glass beads or when combined with French Crimps it can be used to make the fashionable "Floating necklaces".In fact "Beadalon" has many uses and is by far the favourite thread with our customers and staff.

"Supplemax" is a Nylon filament and can also be used in much the same way. It is particularly attractive in black, combined with black French Crimps and gives a very modern look to your necklace. (price list above) Both "Beadalon" and Supplemax" are used without the need for a needle.

"ELASTICITY" is the modern form of elastic for threading beads. Supplied from the "Beadalon" company in America they describe it as "Smooth, Strong, and Stretchy" It is a synthetic elastic and unlike the older rubber elastic it does not perish. (We made up a watch strap in the shop in June of last year and to test its strenght I have been wearig it continuously ever since without a sign of any problems)

It is a big seller in the shop being used mainly for bracelets. The fine (0.5mm) can be used whith size 11 Rocailles and the thick is quite strong enough to use with large holed glass beads.
Its great advatage for bracelets is that is does not need a clasp - just knot the ends together and slip it over your wrist!
