Capuchin Yard and Church Street

This is a view of Capuchin Yard taken during the summer. It shows some of the Cafe customers enjoying their meal in the sun surrounded by the display of flowers for which Capuchin Yard is justly famous. Go inside the cafe and you will be able to see the Prize Shield we won in the "Hereford in Bloom" competition.

Capuchin Yard is situated off Church Street in the historic part of Hereford City. Church Street lies between High Town and the Cathedral Close. When looking for Church Street find Marks and Spencer in High Town, take the alley along side and go across East Street and you will be in Church Street

CAPUCHIN YARD is on the right hand side up a narrow passsage way beside "Cooks Haven" It is a small complex of seven craft work shops where craftsmen and craftswomen make hand made crafts to sell to you, the public. In addition there is a cafe serving whole food meals and snacks. In the summer you can sit outside to drink your coffee and enjoy your meal surrounded by an attractive display of hanging baskets and tubs which are a particular feature of the yard.
The work shop bench surrounded by flowers. This is where, in the summer, we meet the craftspeople from the other units, and sit and drink our coffee and enjoy the sun while having a good gossip!
Music In The Yard

The summer also brings music festivals to Hereford and buskers to the yard. The Three Choirs Festival will bring many visitors to the City and Capuchin Yard will play it's part in welcoming them, when the cafe and craft shops will remain open until the start of the late evening concerts. It will be Hereford's turn to host the festival next in the autumn of 2003.
